Regional Grant Aid scheme and Athlete Scholarships

The region has now launched the third round of the regional grant aid scheme and athlete scholarships to financially support athletes, clubs and other organisations involved with the sport in the East Midlands.  

Grants can be applied for up to £1000.00 to support various projects that contribute to increasing / maintaining club membership and improving performance levels across the sport and scholarships for up to £500.00 can be accessed to support athletes in the U15, U17 and U20 age groups to support and enhance current training programmes and develop the athlete / coach partnerships. 

Application forms and guidelines are attached along with a grant application template which can be filled in electronically if more convenient.  At any stage the regional team is available to support and guide you through the process so please contact them with any queries or for help or advice.

Over £20,000 has been distributed since May last year to worthy athletics projects across the region.  There is a further £10,000 available this time round with the deadline for applications being 01 May 2008.

If you have a project in the back of your mind or a project that needs financial support then please do consider this and look through the guidance carefully.  This is your opportunity to get involved and develop projects further so don’t let it pass you by!!!

Reports18-March-07   Ashby 20:-Of the 671 finishers who braved the extremely icy,windy conditions and two hail storms at the Ashby 20 on March 18th,were five Sutton Harriers using the race as a "warm-up" for the London Marathon. In finishing order the Sutton Harriers were:- Chris Jones 155th;Andrew Ball 201st; Geoff Brown 267th; Tracey Holmes 309th and Leah Chillery 584th. Eleanor Robinson 262; Steve Hobbs 422; Anne Cook 508 (all Ripley) and Heather Pike 445 ( Gosport) who all train with us here at Sutton were also amongst the finishers.The race organisers shifted 5000 bananas, packed 800 goody bag with over 4,800 items they man handled 2000 litres of water,massaged lot of legs and found chocolate and jelly babies for almost every runner, what a task. Return
