Report
Recently the first of the seasons Mini League track and field meetings was held at Berry Hill Mansfield. Sutton in Ashfield Harriers supported a team of 18 young athletes and was one of the seven teams from around Nottinghamshire attending. The ages of the athletes ranged from 9 to 15 competing in numerous track events from 80m to 1000m mixed in with a selection of field events that were high jump, long jump and the throwing events were shot and discus. Some of Sutton's notable results were Chloe Elphick in the high jump clearing 1.25m, which gained 2nd place and was a PB and a grade 4. Bethany Mitchell was first in the shot with a throw of 7.11 metres, which was a grade 3 throw. Paul Rathbone ran well, as usual, achieving 2nd place in the 100m and 3rd in the 200m in times of 13.1 and 26.4sec. Nick Ward also threw well and achieved 2nd place in both discus and the shot with throws of 22.94m and 11.03m. The other members of Sutton's team were as follows:- Matthew Guy, Jordan Mitchell, Jordan Flint, Bethany Ceney, Chloe Brown, Hayley Collis, Jack Potter, Ryan Flint, Sarah Willett, Danielle Ceney, Hannah Felton, Rebecca Collis, Sarah Penington and Peter Smeed. They all performed well and are now busy training hard on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ashfield ready for the next event.
