Newstead Abbey Dash is a 3 mile race which is totally within the grounds of Newstead Abbey the route is three miles and goes past the Abbey and the waterfall. This is organised by the Red hill Road Runners see their Web Site for details

  Nottm 5 mile      Friday 29th July 2005

This took part by the River Trent in Nottingham the course consisted of two and a half laps of the embankment which was nice and flat helping the runners to achieve some good time and win some of the super prizes on offer. We only had one runner taking part due to other local races this was Michael Davies who was the first over 60 runner to cross the line in a time of 33mins 22sec which overall made him 68th out of a total of 211 running the race

Retford Charter Day

Monday 2nd May

Retford Charter Day race took place recently, which was two laps of Retford town centre giving a distance of 5k. Michael Davis of Sutton in Ashfield Harriers ran the race and finished in a time of 20min 36 secs which was good enough for him to achieve the prizes for the first male over 60 across the line. The race drew entrants from all over the country with only Michael and Pat Carlin being the only local runners to feature in the prizes which consisted of a trophy a T shirt, Car accessories and a book Voucher all of which will come in handy

Report Lincoln Interflora 10k Road Race

Recently six runners from Sutton Harries took part in the prestigious Lincoln Interflora 10k road race. This event is organised by the city of Lincoln council and is a very popular race shown by over 2800 runners taking part from throughout the county. The route takes in much of the historic part of Lincoln including the Cathedral and concludes within the grounds of Lincoln Castle. The race was delayed at the start by a few minutes but after that all went well, the route was well marshalled and was a reasonably flat course and even with the windy conditions it was still a good day for running. Sutton's runners were Paul Whittingham, who finished in 36:32 and was 44th he was followed by Paul Wilbraham who achieved a personal best time of 39.05 and also achieved the clubs bronze standard time. Chris Jones also achieved a bronze standard time for his time of 41.12. They were followed closely by Alan Pemberton, Linda Elliot and Alison Mc Ginley who also ran well and achieved a PB. Every runner receives a unique metal for taking part and there are numerous prices for a variety of achievements. The council every year donates any money raised to a designated charity which this year was the Notts and Lincs Air Ambulance and the British Heart Foundation.

  Ashby20 (20 miles road race)

Report
A group of ten runners allied to Sutton in Ashfield Harriers ran recently in the Ashby 20, which is a race that consists of one mile out then two hard undulating laps of 9 miles each after which is the one mile return to the start / finish. The race was well marshalled and organised and the weather was rather cold the sun made a good appearance until during the last few miles when it disappeared behind the clouds and the runners were then cooled down with a few snow flurries. The runners from our club who joined the 606 runners were in finishing order Andy Ball, Stephen Hobbs, Tony Staniland, Eleanor Robinson, Bev Davis, Anne Cook and Marie Bowers achieving good times of between 2hr 31 min and 3hr 32 min.
