Report
Recently 24 members of Sutton in Ashfield Harriers attended the Notts and Derby Track and Field Championships held at Berry Hill Mansfield. The weather for both days was excellent although the wind on Saturday kept the temperatures well down as well as playing havoc with the hurdles and the bar on the pole vault needed to be cajoled into position. Sunday was really hot as was the performances of Suttons athletes who gained 28 medals, which consisted of 3 gold, 13 silver and 12 bronze.

The members attending were:- Beth Sherratt, Jack Potter, Alex Shepphard, Ryan Flint, Connor Bailey, Charlie Taylor, Sarah Willett, Bethany Mitchell, Hannah Felton, Rebecca Collis, Chloe Elphick, Danielle Ceney, Charlotte Brailsford, Paul Rathbone, Peter Smeed, Nick Ward, Matthew Cotton, Daniel Willett, Steven Chillingworth, Hannah Mitchell, Rob Star, Andy Wetherill and Andy Mitchell

It is difficult to pick out the ones that excelled them selves as they all did very well with 17 of them receiving medals. Bethany Mitchell needs to be mentioned for her achievements as she gained not one but TWO championship records for the under 13 year olds by throwing 25.14 metres in the javelin and 7.89 metres in the shot
.
Two more athletes that should receive a mention are Sophie Day of Newark and Paul Rathbone of Sutton Harriers who both received a prize in remembrance of Ian Jacks a past Secretary of the Notts AAA. The award being an annual one for the most promising boy and girl athletes under the age of 15
